ZamCog was established in 2004 to help fund and support two Zambian schools: Shitima Community School in Kabwe and St. Francis Secondary School in Malole.

Story

For the first time in my life I have decided to embark on a challenge to raise funds for a charity I visited last year in Zambia. Charity fundraising is a nightmare these days as there are so many worthy charities and we are all constantly bombarded with emails or letters asking for donations. In a manic brainwave I came up with the idea to raise some monies for Zamcog by doing a "Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor" thinking this might be easy. One, the process for organising this is one similar to hurding cats and second this isn't as easy as it first appears. In actual fact we have just over a month to go and the enormnity of the task is starting to worry me. There are 22 riders attempting to travel approx 1000 kms up the wild coast in South Africa. One might think that this is easy as we all have motorbikes!!! Problem only 12 have riden moterbikes before and most of them on roads not trails and river crossings.

I am not asking willing donors to donate to the cost of the trip as I have taken this cost completely including the physio I am undergoing having fallen badly already on a training session (needless to say at less than 5mph) and somehow need to find a way of mending my acheing body!! I am merely hoping than you will look at the website attached and donate to a charity which is in constant need to funding as its role is to take children with no hope! orphaned! and most of the time in constant fear of abuse and there lives! off the streets and house clothe and educate them to giving them a better chance of survival and the ability to give back themselves.  Over the last 9 years the charity has been running, the school has gone from 7 to 275 pupils and the achievements have flowed consistently. The first children taken off the street are now going to university and will, in time, give back to the community and the school. The charity has one of if not the lowest running costs at less than 2% of its income generated and so the money raised will go direct to the projects currently underway.
