Story
Hi all - in July I will be doing a half ironman triathlon to raise money for the Samburu Project. The distances are as follows: 1.9km Swim / 85.6km Bike / 20km Run.
The Samburu Project is a small charity that provides wells to the villages of the Samburu people in Kenya.
We aim to raise £30,000, in order to fund the construction of wells in two Samburu villages.
Why Water?
- Samburu women and girls walk up to 12 miles every day in search of water. A local source of clean water would mean that girls can go to school and women can engage in other activity, such as micro-business or farming.
- Diarrhea is the leading cause of infant mortality among children under the age of 5 in Samburu. Clean water would almost eradicate this problem.
- A local source of water allows villagers to grow crops and provide food to their families.
I would be very grateful for any donation to support this good cause.
