James's 10K a day for the NHS

10K a day · 23 March 2020
Hi everyone,
Reflecting on my current situation, I consider myself to be extremely lucky, with a healthy family and safe job which I can continue to do from home. However, I dont have to look very far, even within my own immediate family to find people hit both physically and financially. I know everyone reading this will be in a similar or worse situation than me.
Inspired by one of Lucy's friends, who kindly offered to buy a massage treatment from Lucy for a front line member of the NHS once her business can reopen. I decided I wanted to do my bit. Working from home means that I now have 2 hours a day where I no longer commute. So rather than spending an extra hour in bed, I intend to get up and run 10km before the rest of the house are awake. I'm going to do it for the next 5 days whilst I work from home (if I'm not broken by Friday, I'll reset and go again the following week). I'll spend my other spare hour (at the end of my day) playing with my kids.
Having considered a number of different charities, both locally and Nationally, I came across NHS Charities Together, who in response to the recent outbreak of Coronavirus, are working with NHS England and their member NHS Charities on a nationally co-ordinated response.
I appreciate that this is a time of extreme financial hardship and uncertainty, and I understand that some people will not be in a position to support me, and for that reason I have set my target low. Anything people can give will be greatly appreciated.
