Running the Brighton Marathon 2020 for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) to help us save lives.

Story

As some of you may know, I’ll be running the Brighton Marathon on the 19th April 2020 for the charity CALM.

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide which, astonishingly, is the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK and the cause of 18 deaths every day.

It is reported that those working in the construction industry are 1.6 times more likely to be at risk of suicide and thus it is imperative we all promote a working environment where our colleagues and friends feel able to reach out should they need help.

This will be my second (and last) marathon having completed the same race back in 2014. That day didn’t go to plan, and, despite vowing never to attempt another, I am returning older, heavier and with significantly less hair in the hope I can achieve my original goal of completing the race in under four hours.

The next few weeks will see my mileage ramp up with races in Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Sheffield and Bedford already in the diary, but your help in ensuring I’m out running come rain or shine would be very much appreciated.
