The Loony Dook 2020 · 1 January 2020 ·

We receive no funding other than that which we raise ourselves through donations, gifts and fund raising events. The Charity is run entirely by volunteers who give freely of their time and energy to carry out our work caring for the dogs that come into our care prior to finding them a forever home.

Story

Prada is only 2 years old and came into the charity last year (2018).

Hazel our volunteer and her family, including their Second Chances dog, Deano, have had their patience and kindness rewarded by gaining Prada’s trust.
Unfortunately, a routine visit to the vet turned into every dog owner’s nightmare. Prada has a life threatening condition, a serious heart murmur, confirmed by a scan, showing that this serious defect is putting excessive stress on her heart.

As a young dog, Prada’s prognosis is good with timely corrective surgery. As a pre existing condition, there is no insurance available to
cover the cost of the operation and after care, which will be in the region of £5,000.

Second Chances has paid for the operation as this is needed now. At
the time of writing Prada has had her operation, which has been a success. Prada is now resting and recuperating and will go back for a further scan in a months time.

We are looking for your support to raise the funds not only to
help with the cost of the operation, but for any after care.

Funds raised in excess of those required to help Prada will be used to support and care for the many other dogs currently in our care
