Fred Whitton Challenge 2014 · 11 May 2014 ·

The Emily Ffion Trust exists for general charitable purposes but we intend to support medical research and fund equipment to treat Bronchiolitis. We intend to help families cope with bereavement and childhood loss. We don't want the sad loss of our beautiful Emily to be in vain. Your donation helps.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 11th of May 2014 i will be cycling the Fred Whitton Challenge in aid of a new charity, The Emily Ffion Trust.

The Challenge is 112 miles over all the famous Lake District passes in one day (Kirkstone, Honister, Newlands, Whinlatter, Hardknott and Wrynose) a total of c. 4,000 meters of climbing (effectively cycling up and down the Eiger!)

The Trust has been set up by friends of mine who lost their daughter Emily, on the 12th November, 2013.

She passed away suddenly aged 21 months leaving her parents totally shattered.  They had their Princess taken away from them and their son, Charlie, has lost his best friend and little sister.

In the last week before her funeral she rested peacefully in the Butterfly suite in Claire House.  This gave them the support and opportunity to say a proper goodbye to Emily in an environment that was perfect given the circumstances.

Since this tragic event John and Sara have set up the Emily Ffion Trust.  It is in its early stages and looks to support suddenly bereaved families through the unexpected loss of a child. Families who are struggling to come to terms with the devastating changes that this loss creates.

Their aim is to ensure that the tragic loss of their daughter, Emily will not be in vain.

Thank you for reading and for your kind donation.
