Story

Please remember to # in the comments the House your child belongs to! #TeamAUSTEN #TeamDARWIN #TeamHAWKING #TeamSEACOLE #TeamTURING

Without support some bright students who have been selected to Hope Secondary School would not be able to attend. Sponsorship provides fees, uniform, books and educational resources to enable students from poor families to attend school.Sponsorship also enables students to have practical science lessons, to borrow books and solar lamps from the library and to attend after school clubs including computing and PHSE.Hope Secondary School is 5kms along dirt tracks from the tar road where family income is less than a £1 a day. The students at Hope face many challenges including the fact that families prefer girls to get married whilst still teenagers and prefer boys to go out to work rather than attend school.Yet secondary education is important as it enables students to learn English which is the business language of Malawi. Research shows that people passing secondary school tend to earn 5 times as much as those leaving primary school without going to secondary school.
