When I was 19 my mum (Juila) was diagnosed with bowel Cancer and we were told that it was terminal and she had up to 6 months to live which came as a massive shock to myself, brother, Dad and rest of the family and friends.
We were then placed in contact with a Macmillan Nurse she paid us a home visit and helped us put everything we needed into place for example benefits, claims and all things we would need to care for Mum at home for when the time came.
Bud sadly after less than 6 days of the diagnosis Mum closed her eyes and never opened them again and the help and advice and just someone to talk to outside the family which the McMillan Nurse offered was amazing.
A few years later My Mum’s sister Mary contracted the same Cancer she managed to fight it a few weeks longer than mum did but sadly the same outcome and once again McMillan Nurses played a massive part in helping our family and my cousins though a seriously tough time.
So this is why any Cancer related charities I’m always keen to help or raise any money I can for them and when I saw your advert on Facebook last year for OutRunMan I decided to take up this challenge I originally decided to run 100 miles in the 31 days and raise £250 but with all the support from friends and family and the comments and inspirational things that was said I went on to run 201 miles and a massive £1000 of which by the end I was exhausted but knowing the fact I was helping people that were going though what I’d be though.
And so Im going to take this on again this year and have set myself a target of 250 miles in the 31 days this time around
