Story
Our little angel Ava was born sleeping on 5th July 2018, a couple of days before her due date. No words can explain the heartache we felt the moment we were told her heartbeat had gone silent.
I have recently come across a charity doing great work around the subject of stillbirth prevention and would like to support them, so this October 13th I'm going to be taking part in the 5k Mamathon during baby-loss awareness week 2019, in Memory of our beautiful daughter Ava and to support MAMA Academy in their mission.
A little bit about MAMA Academy;
MAMA Academy is a stillbirth prevention charity that works with the Royal College of Midwives and the Department for Health. They educate and empower midwives and mums to be with information for a safer pregnancy. Since they were formed in 2012 the stillbirth rate in the UK has dropped by 20%. This is due to their work and that of others to raise awareness of stillbirth and ways to combat it.
Although it is fantastic that numbers are dropping, the UK still has the worse stillbirth rate in the developed world. 3000 babies a year are stillborn in the UK, that's 9 babies every day. The UK still has one of the worst stillbirth rates in the developed world.
Every £ raised today will go towards making sure more babies arrive safely.![]()
