Asda Foundation Sheffield Half Marathon 2019 · 14 April 2019 ·
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
I look after my wife Bertha, with a group of dedicated carers.
Bertha has now developed severe dementia caused by Alzheimers and we are determined to keep her at home and happy. It's so sad there is nothing we can do to reverse this condition and I want to make a small contribution to finding a cure so I'm running the Sheffield Half Marathon to raise awareness of this condition and the uncomfortable truth that there is no cure.
At 70 it's getting harder and harder to run this distance but I'm prepared to do it to increase awareness of the impact of this condition. Four years on from diagnosis my wife is effectively wheelchair bound, unable to articulate and in need of direct support for every daily routine. She can't be left alone at any time. Fortunately she still recognizes those closest to her, likes music, and people especially children. But then I have to add 'I think'.
So I'm looking for lots of small donations, £10-£20, will suffice but from lots of folk because this means my message is getting out. So anyone who reads this pass it on and before this Sunday 14th April press the donate button please.
Let's get to my target I need 100 contributions. You can do it.
In so doing you will be helping the one charity dedicated to the wellbeing of sufferers and finding a cure.
