National 3 Peaks Challenge

National 3 Peaks · 8 April 2022 to 9 April 2022 ·
In aid of raising money for Martin House Children's Hospice, James & Tom have registered for the NATIONAL 3 PEAKS CHALLENGE!
This will be their biggest challenge to date, climbing a total height of over 10,000ft up the highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales and hopefully in just under 24 hours! For a fairly amateur walkers like this would be a big challenge at any time of the year but with Britain braced for another arctic plunge over the next few days, temperatures dropping to -8C and several inches of snow on higher ground in the North of England & Scotland. we have been told that crampons (ice spikes to our shoes) and walking poles with snow baskets are compulsory for at least the final 1000m to the summit of Ben Nevis. Fair to say the weather forecast looks very unpredictable heading into next week too.
This challenge will start on Friday 8th. Starting at Martin House Hospice, they will begin by travelling North, first climbing up Scotland’s highest peak, Ben Nevis, followed by Scafell Pike in the Lake District before crossing the border to Wales to conquer Snowdon.
The National 3 Peaks Challenge takes in the dizzy heights of:
Martin House support children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families, across West, North and East Yorkshire. Their vision is that every child and young person has access to palliative care when and where they need it.
Any money they can raise will play an integral part in enabling them to look after the children and young people in their care, in addition to providing support for their entire family. It costs £25,000 to run Martin House for just one day.
