Today first day of man runs
I’m OutRunning May for Macmillan Cancer Support. I’ve set myself a challenging target for the month which will push me out of my comfort zone. With your help, I will achieve it – one run at a time. One month, one goal, and one amazing way to change the lives of people affected by cancer.
Let me tell you my story:
Both my Daughters did a few challenges and raised money. I thought it was my turn.
In May 2011 my late wife, Tamsin Wengraf-Townsend was diagnosed with an unknown primary cancer and a secondary liver cancer. Throughout her treatment Macmillan cancer helped her and us work through her illness. They provided nurses including night nurses and community doctors. Sadly she died on the 23rd of August 2011. After this they provided family therapy. But her memory lives on. Tamsin’s father died on September 10th. His primary cancer was lung cancer and he also had liver cancer and spine cancer.
What I will be doing:
My total challenge will be doing a minimum of 150 miles in one month, May (including training and race). This means an average of 5 miles a day. I will be doing a minimum of 5 races with another runner called James Clarke who is deaf blind.
1st Race: 1st May - Regents Park 10km.
2nd Race: 11th May - Battersea Park 10km
3rd Race: 14th May - Southwark Park 10km
4th Race: 15th May - Wimbledon Common Half Marathon
