Story
This year, I'm running Great North Run (September 11th) and Bournemouth Half Marathon (October 9th) to help raise funds for vital dementia research.
My wonderful Mum and Dad both lived with dementia for a number of years and I saw the devastating impact it had on them and how that rippled through my family. We lost them many times over before we said our final goodbye's.
It's been a while since I did any kind of running challenge and that's exactly what these runs will be for me - a challenge! I'm super excited to tackle & conquer them and help raise money for vital dementia research, something that means a lot to me. I'm doing this with the hope that in the future no one will have to go through what my parents did.
Thank you for your support. Whether its £1 or £100 you'll be contributing to a fantastic charity. To make it interesting I'm offering some sponsorship goals!
Donate £20 and you can sponsor a mile of your choosing at either race. I will yell 'This one's for...' at the top of my voice at the start of that mile.
Donate £25, get the above plus you can choose a song for my running playlist.
Donate £50 and you get the above plus I'll send you a selfie taken during that mile (I'll probably have to send it post-race!).
Donate £100, get the above and I'll give you a call during your chosen mile to let you know how its going and to say thank you.
Alzheimer's Research UK's vision is a world free from the dear, harm and heartbreak of dementia.
Without effective treatments, one in three babies born today will die with dementia. Today, there are no dementia survivors but research can change this.
Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK's leading dementia research charity, dedicated to causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure. Backed by passionate scientists and supporters, we’re challenging the way people think about dementia, uniting the big thinkers in the field and funding the innovative science that will deliver a cure.
