We serve and partner with churches to fulfil the Great Commission and advance the gospel among Africans who have the least opportunity to hear about Jesus. Money raised by you makes a real Kingdom difference, looking after current missionaries and raising up a new generation of people ready to go.

Story

We are James and Claire Gibson and our daughters. We have felt for many years that we want to use our skills ( Claire is a teacher and James is a vet) to help the people of Uganda directly. We are responsible for raising all of our own funds. The money you donate will go towards our project work and as such will directly impact the lives of many.

We will be travelling in July to live and work in Kampala, the capital and will also be travelling to Karamoja in the remote North East of the country. We will be sent by AIM International but will be working with a local NGO called CLIDE (Community Livestock Integrated Development). CLIDE exist to empower local communities for sustainable socio-economic transformation. The work started with livestock projects and has expanded into child education sponsorship, agricultural and veterinary research using local indigenous knowledge, HIV/Aids support work and peacemaking. Initially we will be working with the project for 3 years. We have an ambitious target of £25,000 to raise and this money will be used for project work over the three years.

Your donations will practically help some of the poorest people groups.Examples of how livestock can change communities:

Chickens
One hen lays one egg a day for one year, providing food for widows in Uganda as well as a source of income when they sell the eggs. One chicken costs £3.00.

Turkeys
In the Karamoja region of Uganda, notorious for cattle thieves, turkeys present an alternative and less volatile protein source for the nomadic Karamojong people. One Turkey costs £6.00.

Pigs
Pigs are an excellent source of protein and can be fed from leftover food waste. They provide a livelihood for some of the poorest of the poor, who survive in the town garbage dump, scavenging empty bottles or anything else that might be saleable for a few coins. Pigs enable impoverished families to earn a small income for food, clothes and sending their children to school. A pig costs £155.00.

Cows
The purchase of a cow will help a widow or orphan or even a single mother in Uganda with nutritious milk, and hope for the future. The first calf is returned to the project, and donated to another needy person; so your gift of a cow continues helping more and more people as a revolving loan. A cow costs £185.00.

Much of the work Claire will do will be with women and education. To educate a child for a year, including living costs, is £185.00. To give a goat to a widow costs £25.00 and the first goat kid is returned to the project to help another family.

A heartfelt thanks to all our friends and family for being so supportive of us doing this work.
