London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·

With a focus on patient-centred care, we combine state-of-the art-equipment, novel clinical trials, passionate staff and the most modern cancer research with compassion and effective psychological support so that our patients and their loved ones can feel fully supported throughout their cancer journey. We do this because we know each person and every cancer is unique - we don’t want to treat them all the same. Guy’s is the leading UK provider of care and treatment for people with cancer and we’re dedicated to helping patients navigate what can be the most challenging time of their lives. With all our services located under one roof within our bright and welcoming Cancer Centre, we’re able to offer seamless care every step of the way, from diagnosis, through treatment, and after, in an environment that doesn’t feel like a traditional hospital. We know that the landscape of cancer is changing. More people are being affected, but we’re at an exciting point in time when promising new therapies are being developed and research breakthroughs are waiting to be made. It’s crucial that we continue to fund the innovative research, treatment and exceptional care that takes place at Guy’s to ensure we keep going above and beyond what the NHS alone can provide as we help more people cope with and survive cancer.

Story

Thank you for visiting my page!

I’m running the 2022 London Marathon in aid of Guy’s Cancer Charity. I’m lucky enough to be the Oncology and Haematology Clinical Trials Manager at Guy’s hospital and so I get to see the amazing work everybody here does for cancer patients and their families that come to the hospital for treatment. Guy’s is a leading UK centre for cancer patients and the support provided to them by the charity is absolutely invaluable.

Guy’s Cancer Charity helps to fund innovative research that takes place in the Cancer Centre and these trials aim to find new and improved treatments for patients not just here in London but all over the UK and beyond. The landscape of cancer is ever-changing so it’s more important than ever to make sure we’re able to keep exploring new and less harmful ways to treat our patients.

Almost everyone, myself included, has had a personal connection with cancer at some point – whether it’s family, friends, colleagues, or themselves and so can understand the value of the hope that clinical trials can bring to patients and their families.

Any donations will be greatly appreciated and will be put to fantastic use through Guy’s Cancer Charity.

Wish me luck!
