On Sunday 26th April 2026, I’ll be lacing up my boots once again to walk 23 miles in the Glasgow Kiltwalk, taking on the Mighty Stride in memory of my beloved wife, Mary, who we lost to cancer in December 2023.

This is my second time doing the Kiltwalk, and I can tell you — the first time was tough. Every mile tested me physically and emotionally. But I’m back, because the cause is worth every step.

Mary was the heart of our family – kind, courageous, and full of love. In her final days, thanks to the extraordinary care and compassion of Accord Hospice in Paisley, she was able to remain at home, surrounded by those who loved her most. Their support gave us precious time together, filled with dignity, peace, and love.

I’m walking to say thank you – and to ensure that other families can receive the same incredible care when they need it most.

Hospices like Accord rely heavily on donations. Government funding simply doesn’t stretch far enough to meet the growing need. Every pound raised helps provide vital services: pain management, emotional support, home visits, and end-of-life care that honours the person and supports the family.
