Fulfil the Wish is an amazing charity that specialises in taking children who have lifelong and life limiting disabilities on amazing adventures of a lifetime. Having a child with a disability changes your life forever as Nick and his family have found out.

William, Nick’s son, is 17 and has a rare genetic condition called Tuberous Sclerosis Complex. The condition causes tumours to grow throughout the body and in Williams’s case has them in his brain, eyes, lungs, kidneys and on his skin. They cause him to have uncontrolled epilepsy, Autism, ADHD, renal issues global developmental delay and challenging behaviour. Nick and his wife Paula are both trustees of Fulfil the Wish having become friends with the founder a number of years ago when they were invited on a trip to Disneyland Paris.

About Fulfil the Wish

Fulfil the Wish is a registered charity which was founded in 2000 by Mary Appleton, a former nurse, to provide activity and sightseeing holidays for children and young people who have lifelong and life limiting disabilities.

The charity offers fun, friendship, and companionship through bespoke group holidays, days out, and fun adventures for all the family.
We provide families with the opportunity to enjoy experiences together, to set aside the pressure of caring for a special needs child and enjoy quality family time together where disability is not a barrier to participation, fun, or friendship.

Our main holidays include an annual trip to Disneyland Paris, where the families who travel with us benefit from our years of experience in meticulous organisation and helping to deliver a perfect holiday. We also run trips to the Bendrigg Trust, an outdoor activity centre in Cumbria which is purpose built for handicapped people. These trips provide children and families with memories that will last a lifetime, whether through thrilling rollercoasters, magical character meetings, or soaring zip wire rides.

All our trips and activities are family based and, unlike other wish charities, we ensure that the whole family are involved. When a family has a child with a disability, the reality is the whole family suffers. What fulfil the Wish aim for is to ensure that the whole family has an adventure to remember forever.
