Parallel London 2017 · 3 September 2017 ·
On the 3rd September, Freddie, Ella and I (Oliver) will be running/walking/crawling in Parallel 2017 (the worlds first fully inclusive fun run) in the Olympic park to raise money for ADD International. ADD International is a disability rights organisation that strives for independence, equality and opportunity for all disabled people. Disabled people living in poverty are among the most marginalised and stigmatised people on earth. Often, they have no access to basic human rights, education, or the opportunity to earn a living and in some cases experience life threatening abuse. For example my mother spoke recently with the Tanzania Country Director for ADD whom is working with communities to protect Albino children whom are hunted for their limbs which sadly are in high demand due to the belief they have magic powers. We want to help the work of ADD to give disabled people the tools and skills they need to challenge the stigma in their communities and bring about positive change.
We are excited about the event and are in training!! I will be doing a 5K with Dad and Mum, Ella and Freddie will be doing 1K. Our main challenge is the fact that Ella can not walk yet! She has been through intensive training (i.e a holiday in Greece) and can now stand for longer periods but has yet to take her first step unaided. We need to seriously crank up the Ella boot camp over the next few weeks! PLEASE support us: a relatively small amount of money can make a huge difference e.g £50 can pay for hearing aids for 42 deaf children, making it easier for them to be included in mainstream education!
Mum and Dad are going to match what we raise so make them shell out!
Love Oliver (9), Freddie (6) and I am refusing to walk Ella (16 months)
