AIDS AND AFRICA CHALLENGE

PLEASE HELP ME RAISE £3000 FOR AIDS ORPHANS

Please dig deep and sponsor me online. I really need your help.

HOMES FOR AIDS ORPHANS IN SOUTH AFRICA

In July I'm going with a team of volunteers to South Africa where there are literally thousands of AIDS orphans whose parents have died in the AIDS epidemic in a country where up to 42% are now infected.   We're going to:

- Fit gutters to hut roofs and build water storage tanks (they have no piped water supply) and repair holes in leaky roofing sheets

- prepare kitchen gardens so the kids can grow their own vegetables

- cement in the hut walls (currently made of stones + mud) so they don't fall down

- give out mosquito nets to stop the kids getting malaria

- provide footballs and other things to play with

Your donation will make an enormous difference.

It costs:

- £15 for an emergency food parecel for families who have nothing

- £25 to buy two bags of cement, transport them + water to site and then repair the walls of a derelict house

- £40 for a school uniform & shoes so a child can go to school

- £80 for a safe water storage container (fed from roof rainwater)

- £500 for the building materials of a simple house of traditional design

- £150 for fencing around a food garden (to stop goats eating it all)

- £200 for a home-based carer looking after 20 orphans

NB: I intend to paid in full for the cost of the aeroplane flight, so every £ you donate will be spent on the AIDS orphans.
