Story
I'm running the London Marathon 2023 in memory of my Dad, Darryl Guthrie.
Dad passed away in December 2022 following a short but incredibly brave battle with non hodgkin's lymphoma, a blood cancer. I could not be more proud of the attitude he took to fighting cancer, but no one should have to go through the fight and pain he went through.
Doctors don't really know what causes non Hodgkin's lymphoma - it really is just a series of incredibly bad luck, but the amazing research charities like Blood Cancer UK are doing is giving people a fighting chance not only to live longer, but to beat cancer.
Dad's strength and positive attitude, but also the incredible doctors backed up by the research of charities helped give us a few more months together - but with more research, funded by our donations, we can beat cancer.
Blood Cancer UK is a community dedicated to beating blood cancer. They do this by funding research and supporting those affected. Since 1960, they've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. Right now, this is funding 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough.
The day we will beat blood cancer is now in sight and the researchers are determined to finish the job - and I'd be very grateful for any donations to help them get there. Thank you, James.
