The mission of the Foundation is to empower women to realise their potential and become future Women of the Year. We achieve this by providing financial and practical support through small grants, enabling women both in to transform their lives and make meaningful contributions to their communities.

Story

Hi Ya'll, this nice young man James Larkin has taken it upon himself to run 26.2 miles for our fellow women. He will be running with a team of women that includes Gill Carrick, Joan Armatrading and Jack Adamson. Please sponsor him or I will set my red neck brother (who is also my husband) on ya'll!!!! Charity details are below. Oh and be sure to watch the youtube video to the lower left of the screen!! WOMEN OF THE YEAR... The Women of the Year Foundation was established in 2001 with the aim of relieving the needs of women by offering financial and practical support. It is funded by donations and profits from the annual Women of the Year Lunch. Since 2001, The Foundation has supported individuals and organizations that come under its umbrella theme of 'Second Start'. Through this the Foundation has helped women both in the UK and abroad to start over and improve their lives either through retraining or in business. The projects have been diverse and include: Buying looms and textiles for a women's co-operative in India; Kickstart funding for an accessories business; Funding a talented harpist to undertake a harp therapy course which led to the production of a set of CDs that have been used with cancer patients; Funds for a catering project in South Africa training women in townships in how to prepare and cook take-away food; Support for a young woman from Rwanda to study in England; Funding for the Mkombozi Centre for Street Children (Tanzania); Grant for ACET (African Children's Education Trust); Grants for young women participating in The Prince's Trust's programmes; Support for Street Cred, a charity working in the East End of London providing microfinance to groups of women setting up small businesses; Grant to the Barefoot College to provide funding for solar electrification by women solar engineers in Timbuktu, Mali. Thank you for reading this and showing an interest. James Larkin Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure.
