Story
In May I will be trekking up Mount Rinjani, an active volcano in Indonesia as part of RB's 2013 Global Challenge supporting Save the Children. 66 employees from 33 countries will take part in the challenge and we are aiming to raise over £350,000.
The challenge will involve trekking to the summit of MountRinjani, an active volcano (hopefully not too active!) in Lombok, Indonesia. The peak is just under 4,000 metres and it will take us 4 days of strenuous trekking to get to the top and back down, hiking in temperatures from 5 to 25 degrees, through grassland and jungle, and sharing the nights with snakes and numerous stinging insects, oh, and apparently leeches can be a problem too! There will also be a second team who will be renovating vital health clinics in the Bandung District, West Java, Indonesia. At the end of the trek I will be visiting these health clinics, and part of the funds will go directly towards this work.
RB supports Save the Children as their global charity partner. Whatever I raise through this challenge RB will match, effectively doubling any donation and allowing it to reach twice as many children.
I am proud to be supporting Save the Children through this challenge. They work in 120 countries, fighting to save children’s lives and protecting their rights since they were established in 1919. Their work covers areas of conflict or natural disaster, such as Syria and Bangladesh, and they directly helped 8.5 million children in 2011.
I do hope you will be able to support myself, RB and Save the Children as part of the Global Challenge 2013.
Thank you,
James
