Ealing Half Marathon 2019 · 29 September 2019 ·

We are the sole provider of emergency accommodation, food and support for up to 14 people at risk of sleeping rough locally. We open during the 5 winter months and we signpost guests to services supporting physical and mental health needs. We support guests to move into permanent accommodation.

Story

At City Hall we've been supporting Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter, who provide emergency accommodation for people facing homelessness.

In January I visited St Mary’s Church Hanwell near where I grew up to see the work they do. One volunteer summed it up for me: he said they do inspiring work that we wish wasn’t needed.

After my visit I met members of the shelter’s board. We agreed I’ll run the Ealing Half Marathon on September 29th to support the work they do - including to contribute towards them installing more showers.

Being able to have a shower makes a huge difference to people who stay overnight at the shelter. Some of the churches in the network already have showers, and I want to help more of them to be able to offer this too.

I would be very grateful for any sponsorship you can make.

Many thanks

James
