On 10 October 2021, I'm running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for #TeamStroke and all the money raised will go to improving the lives of those who have suffered from a Stroke!

Aged 11, I was on my own with my Great Uncle Gordon when he started to have a stroke. At the time I was completely unaware of the signs of a stroke and how to respond. I'd love to raise awareness to help people act as quickly as possible if they ever find themselves in a similar situation. 

Here's an easy way to remember the signs of a stroke and how to act, feel free to share it with family/friends!

F.A.S.T

Face – the face may have dropped on 1 side, the person may not be able to smile, or their mouth or eye may have drooped.

Arms – the person may not be able to lift both arms and keep them there because of weakness or numbness in 1 arm.

Speech – their speech may be slurred or garbled, or the person may not be able to talk at all despite appearing to be awake; they may also have problems understanding what you're saying to them.

Time – it's time to dial 999 immediately if you notice any of these signs or symptoms.
