Chan & Richard Parke and their friends and colleagues from Threepwood Consulting Ltd are running the Great Manchester Marathon on 10th May in memory of their son James Nikhil Parke. James was born sleeping at 28+2 weeks gestation at Warrington Hospital in the Butterfly Suite, which Life After Loss helped to fund and refurbish. The Butterfly Suite is a room separate from the main labour ward designed to be a peaceful and non medical room to give birth to babies who are born silently into the world.  So that their Mummies, Daddies and families can come and spend a few precious hours or days with their dearly loved babies before they have to say goodbye forever.  During their time in the suite Chan and Richard were given a memory box provided by Life after Loss, containing a blanket which James wore in the room, and they got to keep; a memorial candle; two teddy bears, one of which was cremated with James and one that his Mummy and Daddy kept; a camera memory card, which contain the only photos of James; a memory book, where they have a lock of James' hair, took his hand and foot prints and wrote some other memories about him; plus other items. A box like this costs £10 and are fully provided by the charity. Life after Loss continue to fundraise for more equipment, bereavement staff training and hospital services for those who have lost a baby at any time during pregnancy or early life.

Chan and Richard also attend monthly support groups run by Life After Loss at Warrington Hospital.
