Story

On November 1st, 2009, I will be running the New York Marathon in aid of the Chernobyl Children's Project. The 26.2 mile course starts at the Verrazano Bridge, before traversing the five boroughs of the Big Apple to finish in Central Park. The Chernobyl Children's Project was set up to help children affected by the nuclear disaster in 1986. Their work is ongoing throughout Belarus to offer medical, social, and educational respite to those in need. One of the most uplifting aspects of their work is the children's visits to England, organised and paid for by the charity. Two weeks away from the privations of home can add up to two years to the lives of children aged 5 and older. Although this cause is not as well-advertised or fashionable as others, I hope that you can contribute in bringing very real, positive change to the lives of these children. I am aiming to raise £2000 in total, and any donation, large or small, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
