Story
THANK YOU so much for visiting my page.
I have taken on the massive challenge of the London Marathon 2015 to try and raise as much money as possible for The Art Room.
I am running for the amazing charity The Art Room, Oxford (Please visit their homepage for more information http://www.theartroom.org.uk/). The Art room works in areas of social deprivation using art as therapy to unlock inherent potential of society's most vulnerable children and young people. It may be surprising to many that 21 of the 85 sub-districts in Oxfordshire are classed in the highest national category for their percentage of 'dependent children in poverty', with 9 areas in the top 5% for low school attainment and access to post-GCSE or higher education.
Young people are referred to one of The Art Rooms because the challenges they face are making it difficult for them to engage with learning and the school environment, and they are often at risk of exclusion. These difficulties include:
- Bereavement
- Impact of suicide in the family
- Living with violence, abuse and addiction
- Living with or suffering mental health difficulties
- Neglect and/or on the Child Protection Register
- Aggressive or challenging behaviour
- Child as a prime carer
- Extreme withdrawal e.g. elective mutes
- On the autistic spectrum
- Other special needs
Please be as generous as possible and please pass this page on to others that you might think would be willing for sponsorship.
THANK YOU AGAIN. I will keep you all posted with photos and updates :)
Better get running!!!
