Story
I am planning on doing the 4mile Wee Kiltwalk in June,
As you probably know I had a major stroke in August ‘24 whilst playing golf with Shona. Around March last year I started neuro physiotherapy at Spear in Westhill, who have not only helped me a great deal to help me, but also support a charity called Step Ahead Aberdeen who run classes and social events for stroke survivors here.
Each week I go for an hour and do full body exercises and use an exercise bike for cardio. When I started going a year ago, I could only use the bike if I was tied to the seat post because I didn’t have the strength in my left leg to prevent it from knocking inwards on the frame and could only use it for six minutes on the lowest level, I’m now up to 20 minutes on a high level without being tied on,
Apart from the exercises, I’ve met a nice bunch of people facing similar problems to me, and heard their inspiring stories of how much they have improved.
About 40 people a week attend the classes, and pay a fee each week to attend, donations help pay for equipment and social events
