Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity, supporting young lives from birth to 18. Our mission is to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across North and West Yorkshire who are affected by poverty, illness, neglect or have additional needs.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is James, I am 8 years old.  I was born 11 weeks premature and spent the first 3 months of my life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St James' Hospital, Leeds.  At 9 months old I was diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy which means that the part of my brain that sends the messages to my legs to tell them how to work is damaged.  My mummy and daddy were told that I would be unable to walk or possibly talk. I am unable to walk without equipment and spend a lot of my life in a wheelchair but I am a real chatterbox and love life.

My family and friends are trying to raise £45,000 for an operation called Selective Dorsol Rhizotomy that can give me the mobility I crave. I would be one of the first children to have this operation in Leeds.  This would change my life dramatically and would help me  to get on my feet and be more independent.

Thank you for your support!
