Myself and 5 members of my squadron headquarters have been running, rowing and cross training the equivilent distance from Camp Bastion in Afghanistan back to Swinton Barracks our base in the UK.  We will be covering 3552 miles during the almost seven months we will be deployed in Afghanistan.  This means we will individually be doing almost 600 miles, at over 1000m elevation and in temperatures of up to 50 degrees centigrade.  To make things a little bit more difficult I will have to fit it in around deploying out to forward locations and visiting the troops, oh well we wouldn’t want it to be too easy.  Oh and did I forget to say we would also be throwing in the Bastion Half Marathon to spice it up a bit.
