I’ve created this page for two reasons, one of which benefits a charity quite close to my heart and the other benefits me directly.
The goal is simple. One year, one hundred pounds.
My plan is by Halloween 2019 I’ll be 100 pounds lighter. If I’m not physically lighter by then I’ll donate 100 pounds of my own money to this cause, which brings me to the important part.
CALM, (Campaign Against Living Miserably) is a charity set up to try and help the issue of rising suicide rates among young men in the UK. They run a helpline and an online web chat service ( www.thecalmzone.net ) to help people of any gender or age who are suffering and need somebody to talk to.
I’ve had a few not so great times in my past where, I won’t lie, the thought of suicide has crossed my mind. and I feel in those moments if I didn’t have people close to me I could talk to things could have gone very differently.
Earlier this year a good friend of mine lost his son to suicide, which has been another driver for me to undertake this fundraising task.
Suicide has become the biggest cause of death for men under the age of 45 and I believe we can do more to help prevent it. That’s potentially where you come in.
