We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

When Jamie first contracted Lymphoma Leukemia he was put into a childrens ward, with crying babies and cute but exhausting toddlers, so he got no peace during his awful and painful treatment. So he was moved to an adults ward where they did nothing but complain about all his visitors, and remote control car, helecopter and airships moving around the ward!  He was in hospital for 18 months undergoing invasive treatment and feeling so sick for most of the time or drugged up with mophine so it was nice for him to be able to have some distractions when ever he was feeling up to it.

We talked for many hours what we could do if we won the lottery.  He wanted a wing in his name for all teenagers to stay to get treatment where the nurses were 'cool dudes' , visitors could hang out playing xbox games with them, a mini kitchen for mums to make hamburgers and peanut butter sandwiches all through the night and fun posters up on the walls and of course internet access 24/7.  I promised him I would carry on doing the lottery to try to do this for him.  Sadly when he died, I only found out then, that there WAS such a special place already, run by the Teenage Cancer Trust, and funded by donations!!  Although I have been trying to raise money for them with various other ways, cutting my hair off was the most personal thing I could do for him, which led me to this site!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
