HitClub UK 2022 · 9 April 2022

The charity was founded in 2021 in memory of Daniel Caplan. Daniel died from an aggressive DMG brain tumour. There is currently no treatment for this type of tumour. The charity campaigns for greater awareness and funding. We also provide gifts and holidays for children with any cancer diagnosis.

Story

On April 9th, much to my mother's delight, I will be hanging up the football boots and picking up boxing gloves for the first time to take part in a charity fight via HitClub UK. If you've always dreamed of paying money to see me with a black eye, now is your chance (ticket details to follow)- and as a bonus, you will be helping me raise money for an incredibly worthy charity - Doing it for Daniel.

Doing it for Daniel is a charity very close to my heart as it was set up in memory of fellow Glaswegian Daniel Caplan who sadly died in November 2020 at the age of 17 after being diagnosed with a highly aggressive and difficult to treat brain tumour called DMG/DIPG (diffuse midline glioma) which mostly affects children.

The charity raises money for brain tumour research with a particular focus on DIPG and provides much needed support and financial assistance to children and young people who have been given a diagnosis of cancer, as well as providing support to their parents. They also seek to fund special holidays, experiences, days out and gifts.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under 40 than any other cancer and yet only 1% of the national cancer spend is on brain tumour research. Any and all donations will be hugely appreciated.

Thank you,

Jamie
