Jamie's Virgin London Marathon 2015 page

Virgin London Marathon 2015 · 26 April 2015 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
10 children and young people every day are diagnosed with cancer in the UK, in Feb 2014 my 16yr old sister was one of them. From then until when I run the Marathon, that means another 4500 families will have been given this diagnosis. Being diagnosed with cancer is a frightening experience and the emotional, practical and financial implications of treatment are intensely challenging for the whole family and we definitely found that to be true.
Clic Sargent provides clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help people like us cope with cancer and get the most out of life.
The support that my sister has had from her Clic Sargent supporter has been invaluable. Ploughing through the emotional rollercoaster of the diagnosis, treatment and the effects of the cancer is tough on anyone but especially so for children and young people. My sister’s Clic Sargent supporter is there for her to off load her emotions. She can contact her by phone, email and text whenever she needs to as well as her coming over on a regular basis for a good old chat.
Adverts on TV tell you of the heartache of having to tell your children you have Cancer but the pain and heartache of having to tell your child that they have Cancer is so much more.
Cancer effects so many young people with devastating effect

You may not be a parent or sibling of a child with cancer - Awareness may not
be a priority to you at the moment but the day before Keira's cancer diagnosis
we weren't a cancer family either!!!
