We're cycling to raise funds to help educate children (many of whom have been orphaned through AIDS and conflict) in Karamoja, a semi-arid region in the north east of Uganda. Just £2 educates and feeds a child for one week.

 

The joy of education is, for so many of us, taken for granted but for the children of this region it is not so. Most of the population survives off the land. Many are nomadic moving their cattle to find pastures in the dry times. Several years back we cycled the Pyrenees and raised enough money for a school to be built through this fantastic charity, and last year we cycled the Alps helping to ensure a new generation can benefit. Please help on this ongoing journey. Your donation will make a huge difference to the lives of some very deserving children like Hope, Patrice, Joshua & Samuel in the photo who benefitted from the Pyrenees cycle.

 

The cycle is 27 Apr - 8 May in the High Atlas mountains of Morocco, from Marrakech through Agouin to Asni and covers around 300km of quite demanding terrain with about half of it off-road, sleeping out under the stars at night and carrying all kit ourselves (no support vehicle). There are some truely daunting off-road climbs including several peaks over 3000m and Mount Toubkal at 4167m (see photo - highest peak in North Africa) is higher than either of us have ever been before. We hope to "cycle" up it - even if we have to carry the bikes!

 

We will meet all costs ourselves, so rest assured that all of your donation will go to help educate children in Uganda.
