At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you. Visit www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Oct'11 two very close friends of mine where unfortunate enough to have there 5 year old son Rhys diagnosed with a slow growing cancerous brain tumour.

This resulted in little Rhys going through 6 major life saving and life threatening operations and spending 8 weeks stuck to a hospital bed, he was a very lucky boy who due to the location of the tumour risked never walking or talking again.

Fortunatly he is now on the road to recovery all be it a mild sausage roll addiction :) and has now returned to school full time

However some of Rhys' hospital friends he made whilst in the hospital are still going through this awful time.. Some sadly may never see the road to recovery.

Rhys is an amazing little boy who never seems to stop smiling or putting a smile on other peoples faces, the strength he and his mum & dad have shown through this horrble time has been inspirational, so inspiring infact that last year i ran the brighton marathon and the thought of rhys leigh and keely is what got me round.

The team on Ward C2 - Oncology at Addenbrookes are just unbelievable... and i would like to give something back for all their continued care and support, and the care of other children still recoverying, and try and bring a smile to their faces whilst going through the most horrific time of their lives.

This charity has helped rhys' family and other families to deal with some of the financial worries and ensuring the children have the right social equipment ie.. portable dvd players, tv's, wii consoles etc... to try and make their long stays as homely and comfortable as possible as some children are in Addenbrookes for months at a time..

So in honour of all of this from now on im doing all my running for this charity starting with the eastbourne beachyhead marathon 27th ocotber.. The Eastbourne Beachy Head Marathon is one the biggest off-road marathons in the UK. Previously known as the Seven Sisters Marathon until 2001 and since 2002 as the Beachy Head Marathon. It is popular for its scenic and challenging route through the South Downs National Park countryside.
