St Gemma's Hospice - Stewart Rudette Anniversary Walk 2009 · 18 October 2009 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Just under 12 months ago, our lives changed for ever when we were told our Dad had terminal cancer. Within 40 days we had lost him. October 18th is 1 year and 1 week since our Dad died and it is time for us to give something back to the people who gave him and us the care we needed during those last weeks. Dad was taken into St Gemma's in September last year and whilst he was there he was given the most wonderful care in every way. But St Gemma's gave him something else, it gave him time to spend with his family and friends. We were welcomed at any time of day or night and were looked after by everyone from the cleaners to the consultants. EVERYONE was amazing. This meant that although we have lost dad, we had time to spend those last moments whilst he was cared for with dignity and their care continues afterwards helping us come to terms with our loss. And what did this cost our family .......... nothing, not a penny. St Gemma's cares for you regardless of financial status, colour or religion. Their aim is to make the worst possible time the best it can be. Whilst cancer and other diseases exist, places like St Gemma's are essential but they survive solely on donations, so please please please support us with raising as much as we can to pay St Gemma's back.
Alternatively, join us on the walk (you can sign up on the St Gemma's website) and raise money with us.
Oh and by the way, the girls raised over £6000 for cancer research in July this year with the Race for Life in Dad's memory - lets show them how it's done and beat their amount.
