Lands End to John O'Groats · 19 March 2013

Andover Young Carers are an independent charity providing a range of support services for Young Carers in Andover and surrounding districts. We provide respite for these carers to share their issues and common experiences so that they are free to positive life choices.

Story

LEJOG is a cycle ride from Lands End to John O’Groats which is just short of 1,000 miles. This has been the dream of two young men named Jamie and Luke, both from Hampshire and now it is about to become reality. In July 2013 we shall be setting off on our adventure, but until then we both have to get fit for this ride and trust me it is already proving to be hard.

We are doing this ride for the charity Andover Young Carers. We chose this charity as we feel that the work that they do is for such a great cause. Andover Young Carers is an independent charity established to provide support for these children and young people.

A Young Carer is defined as a child or young person who is undertaking a caring role for a family member with a long-term or terminal illness, disability, mental health issues, drug, alcohol abuse and domestic violence.

They ensure Young Carers have the best possible life chances, by providing appropriate respite and support for them. Their support includes counselling, activities, outings, life skills, homework and after school clubs and signposting to other support services.

Our target fundraising amount is £1,000 which will all go to the charity and we will be funding our own accommodation etc, so please dig deep for such a good cause, we both appreciate all the help and support.
