We are Lanson boys, get us off Dartmoor · 20 September 2019
Hello
I am writing this to ask if you would kindly make a Donation towards a Charity Event that my friends and I are organising in aid of Argyll Ward (Maternity Unit) Ocean Suite (Fertility Ward) at Derriford Hospital Plymouth.
The weekend of the 20th and 21st Sept 2019, my friends and I
are going to spend 2 days and 2 nights on Dartmoor, competing in teams facing different challenges. We will be doing a swimming challenge, an abseiling challenge, an orienteering challenge, with a few surprises along the way. On the Friday, we can earn points for each challenge and the number of points the teams have will determine what they eat. Sleeping arrangements for the Friday is another surprise, but put it this way, it will be cosy. On Saturday, we will be heading towards a campsite to hopefully celebrate our achievement.
The charity, which is very close to mine and my wife’s heart is the NHS Trust, specifically the Argyll Ward and Ocean Suite at Derriford Hospital. Eight and a half years ago, my wife and I decided to try for a family and in the space of six years of trying, we had 4 miscarriages (including one icsi treatment). It got to the stage where we resigned to the fact we were not going to have a family this way, so we started to talk about adoption. Because of my wife’s courage and bravery, we decided to give it another go and have one more treatment. Through
this process we had complications and we thought we had lost this baby, but one Friday morning in Derriford, we both witnessed something magical, a heartbeat. No words can describe how we felt at this particular moment. It was incredible. On July 25th 2016 our beautiful baby girl was born. What is even more unbelievable, without even thinking about having another child, we became pregnant again in March 2018, and on the 27th November our beautiful son was born. We both feel so lucky and blessed, that we finally have, our family. We couldn’t have done this if it wasn’t for the fantastic help from all the Nurses and Doctors at these two particular wards. The work they do is phenomenal, we will never forget them. That’s why I would like to raise as much money as I can, just to say THANKYOU. Any Donation you could give would help tremendously.
Many Thanks
Jamie
