Jurassic Coast Challenge 2022 · 14 May 2022 to 15 May 2022 ·

Foal Farm's aim is to take in as many sick, distressed and unwanted animals as possible and restore them to health and happiness. No healthy animal is ever destroyed, and if no home can be found the animal becomes a resident of Foal Farm for the rest of its life.

Story

This year I am taking part in the Jurassic Coast Marathon, hiking 42km with my sister Tasha for Foal Farm Animal Sanctuary.

I've been visiting Foal Farm since I was a child, we'd go in Summer Holidays, half terms, quiet weekends and for seasonal events, we adopted our family dog Bruiser here in 1992, and more recently a group of friends and I from work have spent our corporate volunteering days for the last few years doing all sorts of odds and ends around the site. (Feel free to comment on the painting in the public toilets or FIV isolation enclosures!)

In 2020 the pandemic caused the cancelation of many of Foal Farm's largest fundraising events of the year, but 2021 saw them come back swinging with the Summer Festival earning a record amount of £30,271, and we were one of the many stallholders there!

Finally we also adopted our 2 cats, Cosmo & Belle in September 2020!

Foal Farm often have many different projects ongoing, from site maintenance and upkeep to building whole new buildings or enclosures to better care for and enrich their animals lives.

I will be donating 25% of the the final amount out of my own money, so if we reach £1,000, I'll chuck in £250!

About Foal Farm

Foal Farm has been rescuing and rehoming neglected animals in and around Kent for more than 60 years.

Our mission is to take in as many animals as we can properly care for, to restore them to health and happiness and where possible find them new homes, or provide a sanctuary for life.

Every year we rehome approximately 500 cats, dogs and small animals, and provide permanent sanctuary to more than 100 farm animals and equines. We never put an animal to sleep if it has a chance of survival, and go to every length to provide first class care to every animal in need.

Animals enjoy spending time on our 26 acre farm in Biggin Hill, home to dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, horses, donkeys, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks and geese!

When we rehome an animal, we believe in matching the right animal to the right home – making the needs of the animal our top priority. If a suitable home cannot be found for an animal, Foal Farm becomes their forever home, providing sanctuary for life.

For more than 60 years we have rehomed and cared for animals from all over Kent, relying totally on the generosity and support of our community through contributions, legacies and fundraising events.
