ING New York Marathon 2011 · 6 November 2011 ·

Turn2us is a movement of people who refuse to stand-by while millions of us don’t have enough money to heat our homes, fill our fridges, or keep a roof over our heads. We’re working to end UK financial insecurity, and create a fairer, more inclusive social security system that works for us all.

Story

On Sunday, November 6, 2011, I will be running the New York City marathon to raise money to help people who are struggling in financial need through no fault of their own.

Why Elizabeth Finn Care?

My mother volunteers for Elizabeth Finn Care in Dorset – this is a national charity that gives direct financial and emotional support to individuals in need.

They help people who are struggling financially – most have been overcome by circumstances, such as family breakdown, redundancy, injury and physical or mental illness.

They also help those who find themselves struggling to survive in retirement or who are unable to return to work, due to a long term disability or sickness, to live with dignity, opportunity and choice.

In the UK and Ireland, there are 4 million adults who are eligible for their support.

Please make a donation – knowing that friends have donated money with the expectation that I will complete the marathon, will be my biggest motivation in reaching the finish line – I hear the last 6 miles are just brutal!

Many thanks,

Jamie
