Our mission is to stop men dying by suicide and we believe death by suicide is preventable. Yet, in the UK suicide is still the single leading cause of death of men under 35. At James’ Place, we provide professional therapy for men in suicidal crisis to help them find hope for the future.

Story

I first met Jordan working for the same company doing winter seasons in Verbier, Switzerland. Jordan was the head driver for both years that I was there, and all those in the team had enormous respect for him, setting an exceptional standard for others to follow. He epitomised work hard play hard and was one of the most entertaining people I’ve ever met, always on time, smartly dressed and very charming. I have so many funny memories of our time together in Verbier, the sort of memories you expect to always be able to look back on a laugh about together.

Suicide is the greatest killer of young men by a long way, and life saving support centres like those run by James' Place are essential in providing young men the help they need. I've supported James' Place in a small way for several years and the opportunity to undertake a challenge like this, to raise money for their work is really gratifying.

Over 8 days we will be cycling from Anfield Stadium - the home of Jordans beloved 'Reds' (Liverpool FC) - to Verbier in Switzerland, where in total he spent 6 winters. In total we will cover over 1,500km, travelling through 5 different countries, and finishing with a gruling 10km climb to the ski resort.

Raising money is a very important part of this challenge, something that will go a long way in helping and supporting others facing their toughest days. However, I hope we are able to also raise awareness and inspire anyone that might be struggling to seek support, whether from friends, family or professionals.

I know Jordan deep down would be proud of us undertaking a challenge for this cause, and he would certainly be jealous of the celebration we will have once we arrive in Verbier!
