Story
Hi guys, I'm travelling to ----- with VSO for 3 months. This is a decision I have made myself due to suffering depression and anxiety for the last few years. I want to set myself on a journey to experience new things, new culture and really find myself. This is something that I've never done before and I really feel like throwing myself out my comfort zone will be a huge asset to myself, hopefully along the way I can do some fantastic things for other people too!
I've decided to do a more physical way of fundraising and will be running the Cheshire half marathon (13.1 miles) on January the 7th 2018. The reason for this is because It's completely new to me, I want to have a feeling of achievement whilst supporting a fantastic cause. I've already started my training and many of you have possibly seen me running through Weybridge, I've got a long way to go but have also quit smoking in order to achieve my goal. I will be limiting my alcohol consumption to (almost) nothing and making sure I eat healthily. For those of you who know me on a more personal level, you will know how much of a big thing this is and also how my life has been for the last few years, so hopefully that's a show of how dedicated I am.
I've been through a fairly long process with VSO, applying, talking to people on the phone and attending an assessment day in which I passed.
I have a fundraising target of £800, any money donated will go straight to VSO, this supports the company and allows other volunteers to continue going abroad to maintain the great work they do in all of these countries.
