Story
Jamie Lewis was a brash, positive and happy character, a loyal friend and loved family member, who was cycling-mad and always up for a mad challenge. Sadly he passed away last month, suddenly and unexpectedly, with his death linked to epilepsy. Jamie's family identified SUDEP Action, a charity working to reduce the suffering caused by Sudden Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP), as an organisation they'd like to support.
A few of us were talking after the funeral, and we decided that a perfect way to honour Jamie's memory whilst doing something positive would be to attempt an ambitious challenge, of the variety that Jamie loved (who could forget his sound system rental business, how he threw himself into dance classes, and his organisation of club nights in Bristol?). So, a crack team of friends and family will be riding from London to Bristol and raising money for SUDEP Action along the way.
Some of us will be doing the 142-mile distance in one day, while some of us will be splitting it over two days. Either way it will be a huge challenge. We'd love to have your support, and if all goes well, see you at the Cat and Wheel pub in Bristol on the evening of the 5th July for victory drinks!
Anything you can give is appreciated. It would mean a lot to all of us who are training hard and hopefully help to prevent and ease the pain of further SUDEP-related deaths.
For more information look for the 'London to Bristol Jamie Lewis Memorial Ride' on Facebook, and we'll also be on the SUDEP Action page as well.
Chapeau!
