Story

Hello and thank you for visiting my just giving page :-)

After many attempts, I have finally managed to secure my place in the London Marathon, and have chosen to raise money and awareness for Leukaemia CARE.

A diagnosis of blood cancer has a life-changing impact on someone physically and psychologically. Leukaemia CARE provides support for patients and families affected by this cruel disease and aims to help those most in need.

Fund raising is crucial for Leukaemia CARE to ensure much-needed support services can be provided for anyone affected with blood cancer. Leukaemia CARE relies solely on efforts from fund raisers and receives no Government, Lottery or NHS funding, and a small amount of money can go a long way:

£40 - could pay for a delegate to attend a conference to meet healthcare professionals and learn more about blood cancer
£100 - could fund one support group for a month - including venue and refreshments

I've always been a keen runner, and in recent years my main focus has been on 5 and 10km events, so the prospect of 42.2km is a bit of a shocker! However, my target time is roughly 3 hours, whether this is achievable or not yet... I have no idea! I will put all my effort into running and training as hard as I can because no matter how hard I train, it is nothing compared to what people affected with blood cancer are forced to go through everyday.

I'll post pictures and videos as much as often as possible and keep you updated on my training progress in the run up to the marathon.

Even if you cannot donate,  spending the time to read my page raises awareness for this disease and may help you understand the daily struggle people affected by Leukaemia face and does make a real difference!

Thank you for taking the time to read this, you're the best!
