Story
The marathon:
I was lucky enough to get a place for the London Marathon back in April 2020, however that has been consistently postponed for obvious reasons so it will now be taking place on October 3rd. Training has been very difficult, particularly after the two-week break whilst I had covid, however it’s undoubtedly all worth it to raise money for Children United. If you’re interested in tracking my training progress you can see it on my Strava account https://www.strava.com/athletes/70421881
Children United:
Children United is a registered charity that helps support orphanages, schools, and women’s refuges in India. It is not a large organisation with overheads and deductions, it is a small charity that usually relies on smaller donations, therefore this (hopefully) larger fundraiser will have a huge impact on those in need. My auntie set up and runs the charity, so I can guarantee that 100% of donations to Children United will go straight to those in India who need it. At a glance, the charity supports and helps fund schools, orphanages, and women’s refuges in India, however for more in-depth information on the specific causes Children United support, please have a look at www.childrenunited.btck.co.uk. A portion of the donations received will also be sent to 1000 Hearts for Harry, another amazing charity aiming to increase the number of heart scans available to young people.
Donations:
Any donation, no matter how small, is worthwhile and hugely appreciated. A hot meal for a child in a school or orphanage costs approximately 5p, so a little really can go a long way. As already mentioned, 100% of donations to Children United will go directly to those who need help, there are absolutely no hidden fees or cuts of donations going elsewhere. I also appreciate that not everyone is in a position to be able to donate, but even just sharing my page or mentioning it to a friend is hugely appreciated too!
Thank you.
