Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit Jamie's JustGiving page.

Jamie's conditions are: Arnold Chiari Malformation Type 1, Joint Hypermobility Syndrome, Cranio Cervical Instability and Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS).

Jamie's symptoms started when she was aged 10 and she was diagnosed with Chiari when she was 13. Her symptoms include: severe head pain, nausea, vomiting, feeling dizzy&faint, numbness, sharp pains in her legs, arms, spine&head.

Jamie had to leave mainstream senior school and attend a home teaching centre part time due to the severity of her symptoms. She passed her GCSE's and went onto attend college to train in animal care. With a lot of support from the college and by completing much of the work at home, Jamie passed her level 2. Unfortunately her symptoms worsened and she was unable to return to do level 3.

Since then, Jamie is mainly housebound, she has no social life but would love to have the opportunity to lead a normal life. To help achieve this, Jamie has seen a neurosurgeon in Barcelona who has recommended fusion and decompression surgery (this operation is not available on the NHS).

The surgery Jamie needs will cost £60,000 and while we hold regular fundraising events, we need the support and generosity of the public to get Jamie her quality of life back.
