Edinburgh Headway Group aims to empower and enrich the lives of adults who have survived an acquired brain injury. We do this by providing high quality person-centred rehabilitation services which support both adults with brain injuries and their carers.

Story

'The Edinburgh Headway Group' is a charity which has great personal significance to my family - my brother Andrew suffered a near fatal brain haemorrhage 5 years ago at the age of 28.  His recovery has been a long, slow and sometimes difficult journey in which he spent 18 months in hospital followed by 2 years in a care home – now, thanks to the help he has received from Headway he is able to live independently in his own home with only a small amount of assistance.

Without the help and support of 'The Edinburgh Headway Group' his journey to reaching independence may have been much longer.  This is a charity that my family weren't aware of until Andrew became ill and the work they do is fantastic - this group has really helped Andrew to build up his confidence in socialising independently of his family.  They have encouraged and supported Andrew in his recovery and thanks to this he is now able to walk with limited help and to live independently with only a small amount of care. He continues to progress daily with the help of Headway.

'The Edinburgh Headway Group' has been helping others in similar situations since 1982 and provides incredible support for patients and their families. I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can offer me in supporting this charity which has done so much for my own family but so many others.
