Trinity Hospice - Trinity's Illumathon 2010 · 4 September 2010 ·

Trinity Hospice and Brian House Children's Hospice provide specialist palliative care to adults and children across the Fylde Coast and much needed support for their families. Our services are available free of charge, but with limited government funding we need to raise over £10 million every year.

Story

Trinity Hospice helps so many people and is a particularly special to us having cared for family and close friends over the years. We are especially walking in Stuart's memory.

The big night - We decided the start the night well with a quick visit to the pub before hand so got down there for 10pm. We got all dressed up for the evening and it wasn't long before we were joined by lots of other keen walkers are glitzed up. The weather was kind to us and stayed dry for the most of it. At midnight we were all given the ok to set off and over 1000 ladies started off down the lights. We set off at a cracking pace which we managed to keep up for over half the walk and only started to flag a little for the last mile or so as we headed back up hill. As it was we completed the walk in an amazing 3 hours which was quite a bit faster than we had expected and had a great time doing so. Check out the photos to see our flashing outfits.

11 Aug - Our hardest walk so far as we walked Bispham to St Chads down the prom. It was made especially difficult by the strong wind and face fulls of sand we kept getting . The good part was getting a taster of what it will be like with the Lights on as some of the Illuminations were switched on.

29 July - We have 2 new recruits, Gill and Carol. Today we started to walk the route and walked from Bispham to North Pier and back. AJ came with us again on his bike to help keep up the pace.

25 July - We have a training coach! AJ decided to help us for today's training walk and joined us on his bike. The weather was smiling at us again and decided to hold off raining.

22 July - Janet & Yvonne are already training hard for this midnight walk. We have trained in the rain, trained in windy conditions and we were even lucky enough to train in the sun - once!
