Our world got turned upside down on January 30th 2016 when mam took unwell and was quickly diagnosed with grade 3 brain cancer. She underwent 6 weeks of radiotherapy and  4 weeks of chemotherapy followed by surgery. She faught on for 2 years and 2 months but sadly the cancer won and mam lost her battle on April 10th 2018.

This is the reason me and Dad have decided to walk 80 miles from Skaw in Unst to Sumburgh head for brain tumour research.

Brain cancer is the biggest cancer killer in children and adults under 40. Despite this, researchers only receive 1% of the national spend from cancer research.
